You will have seen in the news that the free school meals voucher system is being extended over the summer school holiday period, an unprecedented outcome for many of our families. But what about families with children who have been out of education, or away from school for an extended period of time? COVID-19 has highlighted inequality that has existed long before lockdown and has exacerbated it further.

It is our duty not to let these children and families down. It is part of Oasis’ response to the lockdown, to provide a summer service for children who need somewhere to go during the holidays, miss the engagement of school life, and want to catch up on learning in a dynamic and fun way. We will be offering a more targeted approach to our holiday clubs this year, aiming to ensure that children feel confident about continuing their learning in September, mentally well in light of everything that has happened, and fit and healthy with nutritious meals cooked fresh on site.

With your help, families can transition away from food parcel dependence and children can prepare for a return to school life after a long 6 months away.

There is no place for hunger. Please join us in fighting to end food poverty.
